GAME DESIGN: In the art of game design, a professional must design content from story line, gameplay, environment and characters during the production stage. The term “game design” embodies both the physical graphic part of a game, along with all the files and documentation on the game. In order to be a good game designer, you must have artistic, along with technical skill. In the beginning of the gaming age, the game designers were the lead programmers, and were often the only programmers for the game. In some cases, the entire art team was the same man who designed the entire game. Some of the men include: Will wright, Sid Meier, John Romero, and Chris Sawyer. As computers and programs became more powerful, the graphics and complexity in games began to rise. With the increasing complexity, the game industry required many more people to help. Now, each job required more and more people to get games designed and out of the studios faster. With larger games such as the ones we have today began to come out, there were one or two lead designers, with many junior designers in multiple fields to bring the larger games together. Larger teams were required for high budget games and games such as MMORPG’s. One of the most important things you need to have in order to be a good game designer, you must have a free imagination, and a large amount of patients and determination.
